Writing Prompt #143

It’s been a while since I tried a writing prompt. This prompt is from the https://www.amazon.com/Smash-Poetry-Journal-Inspiration-Exploration/dp/1440300615/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1FEGO5QXU9T3K&keywords=smash+poetry+journal&qid=1680590684&sprefix=smash+poetry+%252Caps%252C109&sr=8-2&_encoding=UTF8&tag=kennethexum0f-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=3c41beb8f59d13b6c634f5277a461df4&camp=1789&creative=9325">Smash Poetry JournalSmash Poetry Journal from amazon. This book was a Christmas Gift from the previous Christmas. So far it has been fun to write in so far. You should check it out. Until then, view how I answered below. I admit my answer is not for the kids.

Grand Opening

Write an “open” poem. The poem could be about physically opening something: a garage door, a bottle of soda, or your mouth. The poem could also go the metaphorical route of opening a can of worms or Pandora’s box. Or if you’re into golf or tennis, write about the U.S., French, or British Opens. It’s all open to interpretation.

Grand Opening

It was 10 ft tall

Wider than my old body

But that didn’t stop me

Launching caution to the wind

As I continued to ascend,

The object was glass and the contents inside were worth the rise

Once I reach the top, I flicked the lid off

The jar opened to an aroma to die for

Fresh dank always have that good stank that makes you want to roll up and cough

The nuggets were the size of a beach ball

Grabbed the biggest bud I could hold

Held each end and pulled apart

To show the art

Of the green and purple goodness slowly revealing

It was softer than a cloud

Only fitting the loud made me feel like I was on a cloud

Just floating away
